  • Does booking through Island Activities cost more?

    No. You pay the same price as booking with the tour operator directly. Bookings run through FareHarbor, the same booking system the operators use on their own websites, and Island Activities earns a small commission from the operator. Read our affiliate disclosure.

  • Which bio bay tour should I book?

    Laguna Grande in Fajardo is the easiest from San Juan, about an hour's drive, and you kayak through a mangrove channel to reach it. Mosquito Bay on Vieques is the brightest bio bay in the world, but it takes a ferry or flight to get there. La Parguera on the southwest coast is the only bay where you can swim in the glow. Compare all three bays.

  • When is the best time to see the bioluminescence?

    Book a dark night close to the new moon. Moonlight washes out the glow, so nights near a full moon are noticeably dimmer. Bioluminescence also varies with rain and water temperature, and no operator can guarantee it. See how to plan around the moon.

  • What if I need to cancel?

    Most tours on this site give a full refund if you cancel 24 to 48 hours ahead. Each operator sets its own policy, and the exact cancellation window is shown on every tour card, so check it before you book.

  • Do I need a car to get to the tours?

    Fajardo and the El Yunque area are easy half-day trips from San Juan by car or rideshare. If you would rather not drive, the Fajardo bio bay tour with San Juan transportation includes round-trip pickup. Vieques and Culebra tours require the ferry or a short flight.

  • Where do I meet my tour?

    Your FareHarbor confirmation email includes the meeting point, directions and check-in time. Most operators ask you to arrive 15 to 45 minutes before the tour starts.
